  • Pirelli opts out of World Rally Championship
    MILAN, Italy (Sept. 3, 2010)—Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. has elected to not compete next year in the World Rally Championship, where it was the exclusive race tire supplier for the past three seasons, but the company said it expects to be active in rally racing in some form or another.

Nygaard rejoins Harwick Standard as Vice-President Sales

Harwick LogoAkron, OH (October 21, 2009) – Harwick Standard Distribution Corporation is pleased to announce that Kurt Nygaard will rejoin Harwick Standard as Vice President of Sales effective November 1, 2009. He was most recently Rubber Industry Manager for the M.F. Cachat Company. Prior to M.F. Cachat, Nygaard had spent almost 17 years with Harwick Chemical Corporation & Harwick Standard Distribution Corporation in a variety of positions. Nygaard began his career in the rubber industry in 1977 with B.F. Goodrich Chemical. He is a graduate of Mount Union College with postgraduate work at The College of William & Mary.

Kurt is a member of the American Chemical Society Rubber Division, the Southern Rubber Group, and the Ohio Rubber Group.

Akron, OH (May 27, 2009) – Ernest E. Pouttu, President and CEO of Harwick Standard Distribution Corporation, was presented the 2009 Dr. Frank L. Simonetti Distinguished Business Alumni Award on Friday, April 24, 2009.

The University of Akron’s College of Business Administration Alumni Association established this award in 1987 to honor successful alumni for their achievements in business and significant contributions to their communities.  The award is named for alumnus and long time professor at the College, Dr. Frank L. Simonetti.
